Richard successfully appealed the decision to the tribunal. Here he persuaded the tribunal that the vehicle had been driven deliberately at the student. This meant it was a crime of violence and covered by the scheme.
• Acting for the mother of a murder victim. The Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority rejected the application. It argued the victim voluntarily participated in a fight. Richard successfully appealed that decision and persuaded the tribunal to award compensation.
